The History Of BioShock Part 4 The Collection

The History Of BioShock Part 4 The Collection
The History Of BioShock Part 4
We thank you for joining us at Mods R Us as we look back at the awesome series that is BioShock. Today we have the last entry in this series so once again dive down to Rapture and soar up to Columbia!
BioShock Collection (2016) Pc, Xbox One, Ps4
While there has not been an actual new BioShock game for a few years. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners would be able to get in on the action in 2016 when 2K games released, BioShock: The Collection! This was a collection that was rumored for quite some time and leaks from international retailers would result in 2K having to announce the game earlier than they would have liked.
As you probably know, BioShock The Collection features all three BioShock games and all of their DLC. It is the ultimate BioShock set and for fans of the series, it was awesome having all three games, plus the DLC in one package. The games, BioShock 1 and 2 especially had been given a lick of paint and seeing Rapture in all its HD glory was something many fans got a real kick out of. BioShock Infinite was given the least “attention” but to be fair this was already a fantastic looking game so not as much had to be done to Infinite in order to bring it up to PS4 and Xbox One standards graphically.
BioShock The Collection would come on two discs with the first disc having BioShock 1 and 2 on it and the second disc having BioShock Infinite on it. Interestingly, the same box art is used for both discs.
Right now if you want the best way to experience the BioShock saga, BioShock The Collection is the way to do it. You get all the games, looking better than they ever have before and you even get all the DLC! It is one of the best collections currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and a must have for both systems.
The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 9 Vice City Stories
The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 9
Once again we are shrinking down as we have another portable game in our Grand Theft Auto Retrospective!
Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories (2006) PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2
Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories was a huge hit and at the same time, RockStar was working on another “stories” game, but this one was based on Vice City. It would be released just a year after Liberty City Stories and just like that, it is regarded as one of the best games on the handheld.
Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories is once again set in the 1980’s. Just like its console big brother. The style, the fashion, the music, the cars and the way people talk are right out of the 80’s and it is awesome. This time you play as a guy called, Vic Vance. Vic is a pretty interesting character in that he is an army vet who was just trying to make some money for his family, but through a series of events that just keep getting darker and darker, he finds himself deep in the world of organized crime!
Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories plays just like the last game on the PSP, but the big difference here is the empire building aspect. When you take a business from a rival gang, you are now responsible for running this business and making as much money as possible. It was a pretty interesting idea and one that was expanded upon in later games in the series.
While it may lack the wow factor that Liberty City Stories had as the first full GTA game on a handheld console. It was still very well received, with the only issue people really having with the game being that it was perhaps a little too ambitious for the PSP as the handheld could struggle to keep up. It is worth noting that in the following year. Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories would be ported to the PlayStation 2, but it was a very rushed and poorly done port.
The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 7 Gta Advance
The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 7
You better get on the run from the cops as we are back with part 7 of our Grand Theft Auto retrospective!
Grand Theft Auto Advance (2004) Game Boy Advance
While not the first Grand Theft Auto game to be on a Nintendo system, seeing GTA on anything Nintendo related was still kind of weird. This actually started its life as port of Grand Theft Auto III! Obviously, that was far too ambitious and this idea was scrapped and Grand Theft Auto Advance became its own thing, which is actually kind of a prequel to GTA III.
As you would expect, Grand Theft Auto Advance has a top down view like the classic games. But this time it is a bit more polished and they have tried to give it a 3D kind of feel and things like the map, the cars, and the weapons were clearly inspired by the 3D games so, in a way, Grand Theft Auto Advance is like a mix of the old GTA games and the 3D ones.
The story sees you playing as a criminal called Mike, who along with his buddy Vinnie are going to do one last job and then leave the life of crime behind. Of course, this job goes horribly wrong, Vinnie dies and as Mike, you swear revenge on him and the criminal world of Liberty City! The story was not as great as the other games, but to be fair it was all told through pictures and text.
Grand Theft Auto Advance was a pretty decent throwback to the older GTA games. It was met with rather mixed reviews at the time of release, mainly because people had gotten so used to the 3D Grand Theft Auto games so going back to this was very hard for some people.
Some Cool Overwatch News
Some Cool Overwatch News
As you know here at Mods “R” Us, we are huge fans of Overwatch and the last couple of days there has been some pretty neat Overwatch news and we wanted to talk a little bit about it.
Overwatch Reversing Player Bans
Some unlucky people have found themselves banned from competitive play even though they did nothing wrong. It has so far affected around 200 Overwatch players, but do not freak out as Blizzard has said it is a small bug and they are on it. Anyone who has been banned during this time is going to be looked after and have their account reinstated. People who had never left a game early or done anything offensive had reported they had been banned from playing! Blizzard then came out and confirmed that it was a bug, well at least we now know they are fixing it.
Cool Overwatch Figures Coming Later This Year
We think the Overwatch Funko Pop figures are awesome. But just recently it was revealed that in October there is going to be a new line of Overwatch figures. These are part of the Cute But Deadly line and they look awesome. They are super cute, but also pretty badass looking. These are going to be blind box mini figures, there is going to be 12 characters in this first series and if you want our opinion, Lucio, D.Va, and McCree are the coolest. We hope that since they are blind boxes that someone figures out what the codes on each box are so we can get the figures we want.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer

Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer
You know that here at Mods “R” Us we love us some Red Dead Redemption and we have just spent the last few hours watching the new trailer over and over again and wanted to share our thoughts on it.
First of all, it is a prequel and it sees you playing as an outlaw called, Arthur Morgan who is part of the Van der Linde gang. If that name sounds familiar it is because the leader of this game is a man called Dutch. The main who John Marston was sent to bring in during the events of the first game.
While John Marston (who is one of the best video game characters of all time) was a former outlaw who had a moral compass and was a bad guy, turned good trying to make a go of it with his wife and son. Arthur from what we see in the trailer looks to be a straight up outlaw, but as this is a RockStar game it is sure to have a million twists and turns to the story.
Not much in terms of gameplay was shown, but we did get to see some epic train and bank robberies as well as hunting things like bears and crocodiles. Speaking of which out of all the areas the trailer showed, the Louisiana style swamp looked the most intriguing.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is not going to be released until 2018 and as this is a RockStar game, we are sure there will be at least one more delay. But as far as we are concerned, RockStar can take all the time in the world as long as they make this as good as the first Red Dead Redemption.
GTA The Ballad Of Gay Tony | Xbox 360 | Ps3 | Pc

GTA The Ballad Of Gay Tony
We are glamming things up a bit today as we look at another fantastic entry in the Grand Theft Auto series!
Grand Theft Auto The Ballad Of Gay Tony (2009/10) Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC
The Ballad Of Gay Tony was the final GTA IV expansion pack and the third Grand Theft Auto release in 2009! First released on Xbox 360, The Ballad Of Gay Tony would be released on PC and PlayStation 3 the following year.
This is regarded as one of the best entries in the GTA series. This expansion sees you playing the role of Luis Fernando Lopez who is the personal bodyguard to the flamboyant, Gay Tony who is the owner of the largest nightclubs in Liberty City and also a socialite, overcome the obstacles in his life ranging from drug deals and contracts on his life. The story is just fantastic and has much more glitz and glamour than GTA IV and the Lost And The Damned. Gay Tony was already one of the more memorable characters from GTA IV so seeing him get a more starring role was a lot of fun.
Gameplay was as you would expect, but they added a scoring system for missions as well as lots of new side jobs you could take such as entering a fighting competition, dealing drugs and dealing with club management to name a few. While the game was around the same length as The Lost And The Damned, it felt like there was much more to do here.
The Ballad Of Gay Tony was greeted with worldwide acclaim. Everyone loved the story and it would be the most popular of all the GTA DLC. It is worth noting that this along with The Lost And The Damned would be released together as the “Episodes From Liberty City” bundle that let you play both stories without the need for a Grand Theft Auto IV disc.

The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 11 Lost And Dammed
The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 11
Act like you are a badass biker in the next installment of our Grand Theft Auto retrospective!
Grand Theft Auto The Lost And The Damned (2009) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC
Today we are not looking at a whole new game, but a piece of DLC that while being an add on for Grand Theft Auto IV contained as much, if not more gameplay than many of the other games that were released in 2009.
Grand Theft Auto The Lost And The Damned was the first of two DLC episodes for GTA IV. This saw you playing as Johnny Kleebitz. Who is the leader of a chapter of the motorcycle gang, The Lost MC. You actually encounter these guys in the story of GTA IV and they were pretty darn cool. The story of this DLC sees you trying to keep the chapter running all the while having to deal with some internal issues that want to see you no longer be the leader. The story was very well written and as you would expect the voice acting was awesome.
The game was a lot shorter than a typical GTA game, with some people beating it in 10-15 hours. But for DLC this is a lot of gameplay. You could free roam and do what you want, but the story missions did things a little different. What they did was add in mid mission checkpoints. This was awesome as if you failed a mission, you did not have to restart the whole thing.
As this was based on a biker, the bike was a big deal and two kinds of missions, Bike Races and Gang Wars required you to be on the bike. Multiplayer also had lots of bike focused modes such as chopper vs chopper, lone wolf biker, and witness protection.
The Lost And The Damned was heavily praised by critics, especially the story and the fantastic way they improved motorcycles in the GTA world.

Grand Theft Auto China Town Wars

Grand Theft Auto China Town Wars
Today we are causing more carnage with our Grand Theft Auto Retrospective, but this time the carnage is happening in the palm of your hand!
Grand Theft Auto China Town Wars (2009/10) Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, Mobile
First released on the Nintendo DS and then the PlayStation Portable. Grand Theft Auto China Town Wars was kind of a throwback to the series roots with its top down style. But this time the graphics did have a kind of 3D effect to them. In all honesty, this graphical style really suited the DS, but many felt the PSP could have done a lot better.
The game sees you play the role of Huang Lee who is the son of a major Triad gangster. You want to make a name for yourself and you do this by going on a rampage through the streets of Liberty City. China Town Wars did have a few interesting gameplay mechanics. The way you dealt with police was interesting as when you had a wanted level, this would dictate the amount of police that was after you so if it was level 5, you would have to take down 5 police cars to get the wanted level down. China Town Wars got a lot of attention at the time for its drug dealing subplot. This was really in depth and added a lot of strategy to the game.
The Nintendo DS version of the game made use of the touch screen and the microphone. The game actually handled this in a good way and it did not feel tacked on. The PSP version has upgraded graphics and would change the touch screen mini games to quick time events. The PSP version also had more missions and far better quality sound. The mobile versions of the game were optimized for mobile devices and returned most of the touchscreen controls.
Grand Theft Auto China Town Wars very well received on the Nintendo DS and despite being far different from the other PSP GTA games, that version was also critically acclaimed, although it did not sell as well as the other PSP Grand Theft Auto games.
Grand Theft Auto The Lost And The Dammed

Grand Theft Auto The Lost And The Dammed

Grand Theft Auto The Lost And The Damned (2009) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC

Doom On The Nintendo Switch

Doom On The Nintendo Switch
As you know, here at Mods R Us, we are all about first person shooters. We have been taking a real close look at Call Of Duty WW II lately, but there is another first person shooter that was announced recently that took us and many other people by surprise and that is Doom….. for the Nintendo Switch.
While we focus on modded controllers for the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. It is still very interesting to us that the Nintendo Switch is getting a port of Doom. This is the same Doom that blew us away last year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC it actually works great with our controllers.
The Nintendo Switch is not as powerful as the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One so the game has taken a hit in the frame rate department. It has been said that it is locked at 30 FPS which has gotten some people up in arms. We feel that the fact this is running at all on the Nintendo Switch is amazing and to be honest with you, people who never got to play the game on Xbox One, PS4 or PC are probably not actually going to notice.
Doom is going to just have the single player campaign on the Switch cartridge or card. The multiplayer is going to be available, but you have to download it and it is a 9 GB download! With the tiny 32 GB storage that the Switch has, this is actually a far bigger deal than the game running at 30 FPS!
Going back to the 30 FPS thing, we feel that as every Switch owner is going to be on a level playing field, the lower frame rate should not be an issue, but we are sure that some of you who have played the other versions will certainly notice it.

The Magic Of Overwatch
The Magic Of Overwatch
As you know here at Mods R Us, our modded controllers are perfect for those who love first person shooters. When it comes to first person shooters, Overwatch is one of the very best and most popular released in the last decade! Blizzard absolutely nailed it with Overwatch and today, we want to look at why that is.
To start with Overwatch has more personality and style than the majority of other first person shooters on the market. Blizzard did a wonderful job in creating a very interesting cast of characters. Each one with their own backstory and play style, plus charming personality. It makes it very easy for a player to gravitate to a couple of different characters and stick with them.
While the characters and setting of Overwatch are of course awesome. The gameplay is the real draw here. The game modes are what you would expect. But it is the core gameplay that has sucked so many people into the world of Overwatch. It is so easy to pick up and play, but there can be a lot of depth here, especially if you are willing to work as part of a team and play your role. But at the same time, you can totally just lone wolf it and run around shooting everything you see!
Overwatch has also been awesome in regards to DLC. Blizzard has really supported the game very well and so far the characters they have added have all been added for free which is great. Plus they have these special events like Junkenstien’s Revenge and The Summer Games which make the game even more fun.
Blizzard has a monster hit on their hands with Overwatch and we really cannot wait to see what they have in store for the next Overwatch game!

Road To Red Dead Redemption 2: Red Dead Revolver
Road To Red Dead Redemption 2: Red Dead Revolver
Red Dead Redemption is one of the games that us folks in the Mods R Us office are super excited about and we thought it would be fun to look at where this series started.
Red Dead Revolver (2004) PlayStation 2, Xbox
While these days Red Dead is known as one of the major RockStar games. The interesting thing about this series is that it started life out as a Capcom property. Capcom was working on the game in 2002, RockStar bought the game, made some major changes to it. RockStar increased the violence and gave it a more “spaghetti western” feel than what Capcom was working on and the rest is history.
Red Dead Revolver sees you playing the role of Red Harlow. A gunslinger in the 1880’s who is trying to get justice for his parents who were brutally murdered. The game is actually very story driven and the voice acting for the time was some of the best around. It may be a little predictable in places, but the story was something that was heavily praised at the time of release.
The gameplay of Red Dead Revolver is that of an action 3rd person game. Red Harlow is an expert with guns and you will be going along looking for justice by putting a beating on and bullets in any person who gets in your way. Red Dead Revolver is fairly linear and does not have the massive open worlds of a GTA or Red Dead Redemption. But it tells its story very well and is fun to play.
At the time of release, Red Dead Revolver was very well received and of course, it set the stage for RockStar to created Red Dead Redemption. As of right now, you can pick up Red Dead Revolver for just a few bucks and it is well worth playing.

Road To Red Dead Redemption 2: Red Dead Redemption
Road To Red Dead Redemption 2: Red Dead Redemption
Today we are saddling up as we are continuing our look at the road to Red Dead Redemption 2!
Red Dead Redemption (2010) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Red Dead Redemption is one of the greatest games of its generation and for some people one of the greatest video games of all time. RockStar really did outdo themselves with this game and created one of the best stories, characters, and settings of any game.
The story sees you playing the role of John Marston. Who is a former gunslinger who used to run with a gang of bad guys. For years, John has left this life behind him as he tries to make a go of it on his ranch with his wife and son. But the past always has a way of catching up with you and government agents take his son and order him to bring in his former gang if he wants to see them again.
The story is just so well written and you really do care about John as he is a far more complex character than you first realize. The story of the game has you going all over the old West, Mexico, and even the cold North. Of course, you are playing the main story, but you get sucked into other people’s stuff as well such as the eccentric Nigel West Dickens and the revolutionary, Abraham Reyes. You encounter a ton of different characters and as well as the main story, there is a ton of side missions for you to do as well.
The gameplay of Red Dead Redemption is that of an open world, 3D action game. You can use horses to travel the land so you can explore or you can hop on a stagecoach. There is just a ton to see and do here from skinning animals, collecting plants and even hunting down bounties for cash!
Red Dead Redemption is one of RockStar games finest pieces of work and a game that should be in everyone’s collection.

The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 12 China Town

The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 12

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Trailer Show How Much Content Game Has

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Trailer Show How Much Content Game Has

Here at Mods R Us, we had a lot of fun with Star Wars Battlefront, even if it was severely lacking in content. But a recent trailer was just released that showed, this time EA is not messing around.

The trailer shows off just how much more content Star Wars Battlefront 2 has over its predecessor. Of course, we all know that this time there is a full on story mode, but they actually had a pretty interesting chart in this trailer that showed just how much new content there would be. Locations have been increased from 4 to 18 and they are going to span all three eras of Star Wars movies. There are now 39 different vehicles whereas there were only 11 in the original Star Wars Battlefront.

There is also going to be a ton more Star Wars characters to play as. Star Wars Battlefront will have 14 different heroes and villains from the Star Wars universe for you to play as. The last Battlefront game only had 6 (not counting DLC) Star Wars characters to play as. Once again all 14 characters are going to represent the whole Star Wars saga which is really cool.

EA have also accounted that there will be fewer game modes this time. Star Wars Battlefront 2 will have 5 different game modes, the last Battlefront game had 9. But to be fair some of these modes were very, very similar so getting rid of those and just making the five they have all feel different is ok in our book.

Thoughts On Doom On The Nintendo Switch

Thoughts On Doom On The Nintendo Switch

Road To Red Dead Redemption 3: Red Dead Redemption
Time for you cowboys to tie your horse up and take it easy in the saloon as we are looking at the last stop on our way to Red Dead Redemption 2!
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare (2010) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Red Dead Redemption was a monster of a hit and quite shortly after it was released, we got wind of a huge DLC expansion, Undead Nightmare which would bring the undead to the Wild West! To say this new got people excited is a huge understatement and as amazing as Red Dead Redemption was it was this news that made more than a few people decide to buy it.
Undead Nightmare once against sees players take the role of John Marston, who you even get to play as a zombie which is pretty cool. The story of the game is pretty cool and sees John having to travel to the different towns in the game to keep the number of zombies down. You will also have to do various missions for other people as you try to figure out what the hell is going on and how you can stop it. One of the coolest features of the game is that you can find and tame the four horses of the apocalypse.
RockStar did an amazing job with this DLC! They went in and did a ton of work on the visuals so while you instantly recognize them all from Red Dead Redemption they have been given a sinister coating of paint, which with the permanent darkness and bad weather gives the whole game an eerie kind of feeling
As well as the main story, Undead Nightmare also had two multiplayer modes which were well received. These are called Land Grab and Undead Overrun.
Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare was a huge hit, so much so that RockStar actually released the game on its own, at a budget price of course.

The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 8
The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 8
Join us once again as we take a walk on the wrong side of the tracks as we look back at the history of Grand Theft Auto!
Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories (2005) PlayStation Portable
The year prior, RockStar had a lot of success with bringing GTA to the GameBoy Advance. But with the far more powerful, PlayStation Portable they had the chance to bring as close to the console experience as possible to a handheld. Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories was the most anticipated game on the PSP. It was a game that many people actually bought the handheld just to play.
The story of the game sees you playing as Toni Cipriani, who as you have probably guessed is a mobster who is trying to work his way up the ranks, seek revenge and make as much money as possible. The story is actually pretty well done and it is set before the events of Grand Theft Auto III.
While the story is fun, the gameplay is the real star here. RockStar did a fantastic job with this game and it really does come close to matching what the console GTA games offered, all be it in a bit of a smaller scale. While this is based on GTA III. Liberty City Stories has more in common with the later games in the series, Vice City, and San Andreas as it gives the player more control over the camera, more indoor areas to explore and many of the vehicles that those two games offered. It even had a fun multiplayer mode which at the time was a huge deal.
In all Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories was a huge success it was fun to play, sold a ton of copies and was very well received. It would actually be ported to the PlayStation 2 the following year and also end up on mobile devices in 2016.

The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 1
The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 1
Join us as we look at the history of one of the most popular game series of all time, Grand Theft Auto. As well as offering the best modded controllers for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. We are also huge gamers and that is why we are looking back at the origins of GTA!
Grand Theft Auto (1997-1999) PlayStation, PC, GameBoy Color
It may surprise you to know this, but the first Grand Theft Auto game was made by a small studio in Dundee, Scotland. This studio would eventually go on to be known as RockStar North. But back then they were more famous for their series Lemmings.
Anyway, the first game in the Grand Theft Auto game caused quite a stir. You played the role of a guy trying to make his way in the world of crime. You would get to go between three main cities with each one requiring you to do certain missions and tasks for the local crime lords. You need to get points and money as this is what is going to unlock more missions and other parts of the city. When you think about it the original Grand Theft Auto had a very arcade feel to it.
While you can do missions. A huge part of the appeal of Grand Theft Auto was that you could go around and just pretty much do what you want. You could steal a ton of cars, kill random people, go on the run from the police and in general just cause all kinds of chaos!
The original game as a rather simplistic top down view which allowed the game to even be ported to the GameBoy Color in 1999. It is crazy to see how far the series has come with how realistic the series is now on PS4 and Xbox One. It may be simple, but there is still a lot of charm in the first Grand Theft Auto game.

Halo Retrospective Part 13: Halo Wars 2
Halo Retrospective Part 13: Halo Wars 2
Here we have the final part of our Halo Retrospective. We thank you for taking this look back on the Halo Universe with us and remind you that if you want to be the ultimate Spartan. You need one of our, modded Xbox One controllers and our modded Xbox 360 controllers.
Halo Wars 2 (2017) Xbox One, PC
Teased back in 2015, Halo Wars 2 was a game that took many of us by surprise. As good as the first Halo Wars was, not many felt that a sequel would come. But when that first trailer launched, people went nuts!
The gameplay of Halo Wars 2 is that of a real time strategy game. Like before it is all about the UNSC (humans) going against the Covenant. The story mode is actually very well done and like the first game, it is told with some incredible cut scenes that really do hook you and make you invested in the story. One of the things we liked about the story was how it was like a side story to the whole Halo universe and anything that helped give more insight to the Halo universe is very welcomed by the fans.
Halo Wars 2 is the kind of real time strategy game that is not really aimed at hardcore players of this genre of game. One of the criticisms some people had was that it was a little too accessible for some. This though for people who were new to this genre of the game was a very good thing. The rather basic and accessible nature of the gameplay made it a real time strategy game that we could all enjoy. For those players who felt it a little too simplistic. They could jump online and wage war with a more skilled opponent.

Grand Theft Auto 4| Ps3 | Xbox 360 | Pc
We are now ten games into our epic Grand Theft Auto retrospective, get ready for one hell of a ride!
Grand Theft Auto IV (2008) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC
For the fourth game in the Grand Theft Auto series, RockStar wanted something a little more real and gritty than what the past few games had offered. For this, they took the game back to Liberty City. This time though, Liberty City was much larger and far more realistic and was actually based on New York.
Grand Theft Auto was heavily story driven. You play as Niko Bellic who has moved to the USA from Serbia to see his cousin Roman, work for him, have a better life and in general live the American dream. The story is very well written and it is as much the supporting cast of characters that you must deal with that really make it as much as Niko himself. Before long, Niko is pulled into the world of crime and violence. GTA IV was so gritty and violent that it caused a ton of controversy.
As well as the single player, Grand Theft Auto IV also had a co-op and competitive multiplayer which supported up to 32 players which was pretty huge at the time.
Grand Theft Auto IV was the first GTA game to be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was not only critically acclaimed but at the time of release, it was the fastest selling video game… actually, forget that. It was the fastest selling piece of entertainment in history! It was also supported with DLC, which we will look at another time!

The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 4
Today we are once again locking and loading and getting ready to cause all kinds of destruction as we continue our Grand Theft Auto retrospective.
Grand Theft Auto 3 (2001,2002,2003) PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox
Grand Theft Auto 3 was a game changer for the GTA series and in gaming in general. The people at RockStar created an absolute monster in Grand Theft Auto 3 and while the PlayStation 2 was already a huge seller. GTA 3 for many people was the game that made them decide to take the plunge and pick up a PlayStation 2.
Grand Theft Auto 3 had a story where you played as a criminal called Claude, a man who was done wrong and now he wants revenge. As the first 3D GTA game, the story was not as in depth as it would later become. But there was enough of a story to keep you invested in the game.
It was the gameplay though that really blew people away. Grand Theft Auto 3 is an open world 3D game which at the time had not been seen on a console in this kind of scope (if even at all) you could pretty much just do whatever the heck you wanted and at the time this was something that was incredibly fresh and new. It offered so much freedom and gamers would spend more time going on killing sprees, stealing cars and just seeing all they could see in this massive world than they would actually playing the story!
Grand Theft Auto 3 was a huge hit on the PlayStation 2. It would be released on PC a year later in 2002 and then in 2003 a Grand Theft Auto collection would be released on Xbox that contained this and Grand Theft Auto Vice City.

Grand Theft Auto London Pt 2
Grand Theft Auto London Pt 2
Here at Mods R Us, we offer the best modded controllers for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. But as we are huge gamers, we want to talk to you about some of our favorite games. That is why we are looking at the history of the Grand Theft Auto series.
Grand Theft Auto London (1999) PlayStation, PC
Two years later, we would get some more GTA action in Grand Theft Auto London 1969. Interestingly on the PlayStation, this is a standalone title, but for PC it was sold as an expansion to the first game.
One thing that is notable about this is that this is the only Grand Theft Auto game that is actually based in a real city and not one that is made up. It still has that same over the top, looking down style the first Grand Theft Auto game had, but it had been given a real good lick of paint. They did such a great job in making the streets look like 1960’s London, it has a real “mods and rockers” kind of vibe from the art style, music, and the dialogue.
Grand Theft Auto London 1969 was not as universally acclaimed as the first game, mainly because while it offered the same kind of gameplay. London was nowhere near as large as the three cities, GTA offered and in many ways it felt like a slimmed down version of what Grand Theft Auto offered.
PC owners would get some more GTA London action as they got a free download of Grand Theft Auto London 1961. This is a prequel which offered more missions to do and carnage to cause.

Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Grand Theft Auto 2
Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 3
We are back again with our look back at the origins of one of the most popular video game series of all time, Grand Theft Auto!
Grand Theft Auto 2 (1999) PlayStation, PC, Dreamcast, GameBoy Color
Grand Theft Auto 2 was released in 1999 and it retained the same top down gameplay style as the original game and its London spin offs. While it had the same style, GTA 2 did polish up the graphics quite a bit and in general, things just had a much smoother and better look to them than the first game.
Grand Theft Auto 2 still let the player just go around the city (Anywhere City) and cause utter mayhem and taking part in all kinds of side missions. But Grand Theft Auto 2 was also very story driven, something that the other games in the series after this point would become known for.
You play the role of a guy who just got out of prison called, Claude Speed. He enters Anywhere City and he wants to become the king pin! He is willing to do whatever it takes to do this and kill anyone who gets in his way. The story is pretty darn cool and features things like the Yakuza and the Russian mafia. You have to walk a fine line when doing jobs for certain organizations as they will think you are exclusively on their side, which can make you a target for rival gangs.
While it is fondly looked back on now, Grand Theft Auto 2 when it was first released got mixed reviews. Many people felt the game looked exactly the same (even though it was polished up) and felt it was not a real step forward for the series. This would lead to DMA/Rockstar making some pretty big bold decisions for Grand Theft Auto 3!

The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 10

Call Of Duty WW2 Sounds Better And Better!
As you know, here at Mods R Us, we are huge COD fans. That is why all of our modded PlayStation and Xbox controllers are designed with Call Of Duty in mind. Anyway, while we love the multiplayer action that Call Of Duty always offers. It is actually the single player campaign that is really capturing our attention and we recently just found out a few more details.
While the main aspect of the story is Red Daniels and his brother who are from Texas and their experiences in the war. It has been revealed that players will also experience what it was like for a pilot from the RAF, a tank commander and even a female French resistance fighter. While the brotherly dynamic of Red and his brother as they go through the hells of war is the front and center of the story. It does sound like, Activision has really created a great cast of characters that we are going to care about here.
We think this is great news as the story modes in Call Of Duty games have always been about the spectacle. Call Of Duty WWII sounds like it is going to have a lot of heart and make us really care about these characters that are being put through hell.
So while we will no doubt spend hundreds of hours with the multiplayer modes in Call Of Duty WWII, we can assure you that the story is going to be something we really sink our teeth into.

The History Of BioShock Part 1
The History Of BioShock Part 1
Here at Mods “R” Us we are all about our epic modded controllers for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. But today we are starting a new series looking at the underwater city and the city in the sky of the epic BioShock series
BioShock (2007) Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3
BioShock received a lot of attention during its development as it was seen by many as a spiritual successor to the epic System Shock series. While these comparisons may have been what sparked peoples interests initially, the underwater city of Rapture and the fantastic story are what really hooked gamers.
BioShock is a story driven first person shooter where you play the role of a man who has crash landed in the ocean. He finds his way to a lighthouse that is a bathysphere which transports him to the incredible under water city of Rapture. The game is set in the 1960’s and Rapture was created by a man called Andrew Ryan who wanted a utopia at the bottom of the ocean, free from the “legal” restrictions of the world.
Rapture would eventually fall and become a place that is full of messed up people known as Splicers. These Splicers were created by messing with ADAM which was something found in sea slugs which would allow a person to alter their DNA and give them powers like fire and ice. These powers are a huge part of BioShock and you will learn new ones as you progress through the game. This along with the weapons that you get, give the game at first glance a typical first person shooter vibe.
Along with Splicers players would have to deal with Big Daddy’s and the children they protect, who by the way you can either save or harvest. Which you do will alter the ending you get.
But calling BioShock just another first person shooter is doing it a huge disservice. It is a story driven masterpiece that makes you want to know, who you are and was getting to Rapture an accident?
The first BioShock was a huge success and one of the major hits on the Xbox 360, it was then later released for the PlayStation 3 as well. For many, this is still the best game in the BioShock series.

The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 5 Vice City
The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 5
We are helping you keep those cops and drug cartels at bay as we continue on with our Grand Theft Auto Retrospective!
Grand Theft Auto Vice City (2002,2003) PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox
How could RockStar possibly top GTA 3? Well they found a way as Grand Theft Auto Vice City was even more successful and critically acclaimed than 3! This game was once again in full 3D, but this time the world was much larger and felt more alive. A huge part of this was the increase in NPC’s as well as side missions that the player could do.
The real draw of Grand Theft Auto Vice City is the setting. It is set in the 80’s and this was back in 2002, before it was cool to set everything in the 80’s. The fashion, the music and just the tone of the game is full on 80’s and RockStar used things like Scarface and Miami Vice as well as many real world events from the 80’s to help craft the story of Tommy Vercetti getting out of jail and slowly, but surely starting to become a drug and crime king pin in Vice City.
Grand Theft Auto Vice City was just such a fun game. The controls felt a little tigher in the driving sections and even in the general gameplay with the auto aim working very well to make it easier to shoot who you actually want to shoot.
Vice City is one of the most fondly remembered games in the GTA series. Sure the 80’s setting plays a big part in this, but the story is well written and a lot of fun to play through. The game was released first on PlayStation 2 in 2002, before coming to Xbox in a double pack with GTA 3 and also on PC.

Road To Red Dead Redemption 3: Red Dead Redemption

The History Of BioShock Part 3 BioShock Infinite
The History Of BioShock Part 3
We are continuing our epic look back at one of the best first person shooter series of all time, BioShock. So keep on reading to see what we think of the third game in the BioShock series.
BioShock Infinite (2013) Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3
BioShock Infinite took the series (at first glance) in a different direction as instead of going to the underwater city of Rapture. This time we went up into the flying city of Columbia. BioShock Infinite was actually set many years before the events of the first two BioShock games and while at first, it seems like a totally unrelated game. Much of the gameplay elements that were in the first two BioShock were present.
We are talking learning new different abilities by altering your DNA and just the general gameplay had that BioShock feel. While the gameplay was similar the story was certainly not. This time around you play as Booker DeWitt who is a Pinkerton agent, whose life is a mess and he is hired to go to Columbia and “free” a girl and then bring her to these two people. It is really hard not to say too much without spoiling the game.
But once Booker gets to Columbia and meets Elizabeth. He realizes all is not what it seems and Columbia is on the brink of a huge civil war thanks to its crazy leader, Comstock. Elizabeth is more than meets the eye and can open rifts to other dimensions! Booker soon sees this as more than just a job and develops a real bond with Elizabeth.
BioShock Infinite has one of the most engrossing stories you will ever encounter in a game. Elizabeth has to be regarded as one of the best accompanying characters in any game and you really do care for her safety as you progress through the game. With an ending that will stay with you for days after!
