Old Games Worth Revisiting: Duke Nukem

While we specialize in making modded controllers for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and even Xbox 360! But we also love to play games and today we are starting a new series where we look at an older first person shooter game that we feel is worth going back and playing.

old games worth revisiting duke nukem - sega - sony - nintendo

Worth Revisiting? Duke Nukem

Duke Nukem, (1997), Sega Saturn,Sony PlayStation,Nintendo 64

Duke Nukem needs no introduction. The first 3D Duke Nukem game on PC was a monster of a hit and in the 90’s it was decided to bring the game to consoles. Now the PlayStation version is the weakest. It is not horrible (well if you have not experienced the PC version you will not find it horrible) but it is rather unremarkable compared to what the Sega Saturn version and the Nintendo 64 version offered.

Sega Saturn:

The first thing that is worth noting about the Sega Saturn version is that it actually supported online play. This was huge back in 1997 and it was something that the PlayStation could not match. Not too many people took advantage of this, but it was a feature that was really ahead of its time. The Sega Saturn version has a very low framerate, but many people do say that the Sega Saturn version while kind of ugly, plays better and smoother than the PlayStation version of the game. While it may look terrible by today’s standards, Duke Nukem 3D on Sega Saturn was a game many Saturn owners had a blast with.

Nintendo 64:

Wow this should have been a smash hit! Many of the promos for Duke Nukem 3D coming to console were really hyping the Nintendo 64 version. Many changes were made to the game in terms of missing levels, added weapons and unfortunately, violence, sex, and bad language toned down (this was Nintendo in the 90’s!) so many thought they had in a way neutered Duke! But what the Nintendo 64 version had that was pretty cool was 4 player local multiplayer. Back in 1997 this was an absolute blast and while the Sega Saturn having online play may have been technically more impressive, no one really cared and it was all about that 4 player Duke action!

Unfortunately, due to the development hell Duke Nukem, Forever was in and the lack luster reception on its release. It is highly unlikely we will get another Duke game. But the console versions of can be picked up dirt cheap these days and it is worth experiencing.

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare, 2016,PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

Infinity Ward are the developers behind Infinite Warfare and after the extreme negative backlash to the initial trailer, they must have wondered what they did wrong. People loved Advanced Warfare and the future sections of the last two Black Ops games, but many felt, Infinite Warfare took things too far.

Which is a shame really as Infinite Warfare is a very well made game. The story really is the most “epic” of the franchise as literally the whole solar system is being fought over. Captain Nick Reyes is who you play as and you will go to distant planets and space stations trying to stop the SDF from taking over the galaxy. The story is very well done. With great voice acting and a pretty darn good script. It is like you are playing a role in a sci-fi movie. As well as your first person shooter sections, you had zero gravity and some vehicle sections to mix things up a bit which was pretty cool.

While multiplayer was great, Zombies was where it was at. Infinity Ward really stepped up their game with Zombies. It was called Zombies In Spaceland and saw you run around a 1980’s theme park trying to survive waves of zombies, it is awesome! There was also plenty of Zombies DLC, each one having its own theme.

For some, the main selling point of Infinite Warfare was the special edition that came packaged with a remastered version of the original Modern Warfare. This was a huge selling point and saw many gamers go for the special edition.

In all Infinite Warfare is a fantastic first person shooter, but sadly for some people, it was too sci-fi and that was why they did not like it.

Call Of Duty Black Ops III

Call Of Duty Black Ops III 2015,PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

Treyarch was once again bringing us Black Ops action with Black Ops 3. The first thing we want to talk about here is the campaign. It was set in the year, 2065 so there is now advanced technologies like exo suits and awesome futuristic weapons that you can make use of. But as well as the good there is also the bad as climate change and the after effects of another Cold War has had a real negative effect on the world.

The campaign was once again very well written and had that big budget, blockbuster movie feel to it. The levels this time felt larger than ever and far more open which was pretty cool. Also, you could now play with up to three players. Mixing multiplayer into the campaign, but not at the expense of the story was really cool.

The multiplayer was faster paced than ever before. This was because your exo suit allowed you to boost around the map, jump in midair and also perform wall runs! Each multiplayer mode felt brand new as they were now all played at 100 mph and were all about run and gun.

Treyarch brought their Zombies mode back and once again it was over the top and just completely wild. What was really cool about this zombies mode was the way that they used an XP progression system similar to what was in the campaign. Where you would get better equipment and gear as you progressed.

Call Of Duty Black Ops III is seen as one of the best games in the series and it sold considerably more copies than Advanced Warfare and the game that would follow on from it, Infinite Warfare.

The History Of Call Of Duty Pt 10 Advanced Warfare

The History Of Call Of Duty: Pt 10 Advanced Warfare

If you want a game that is just tailor made for our and . Look no further than the Call Of Duty we are looking at today!
Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

Call Of Duty, Advanced Warfare, 2014, PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare is the first game that Activision gave Sledgehammer Games the reins for. It was released on most consoles, but this time Activision decided to not bother with the Wii U.

Set in the near future the campaign of Advanced Warfare saw you play as just one character, Jack Mitchell. The story features a new private military company called, Atlas who seem great at first but are not as wholesome as they first appear. The story has some truly incredible cut scenes, honestly, at some points, you feel like you are watching a movie!

While it was a very cinematic experience, the campaign would also allow you to upgrade your great in between missions which was pretty cool. You had an exo suit which would allow you to do all kinds of cool things like double jump, use different add ons and so on. It really does make you feel like a soldier from the future and that is awesome

Multiplayer in Advanced Warfare was just a ton of fun and it is still being widely played even now a few years later. All the game modes were here, but Exo Survival and Exo Zombies were the real highlights. Survival sees you and three other players team up to fight off waves of enemies and Zombies is what you would expect although most of the cool stuff in Advanced Warfare’s Zombies was locked behind DLC.

In all Advanced Warfare was a fantastic game. The story was very well written and actually made you care about what was going on and multiplayer was darn near perfect. This is a must have game in the COD series!

The History Of Call Of Duty: Pt 9 Cod Ghosts

Here we have a game that is perfect for our and .So please check out the next installment of our look back at the Call Of Duty series
The History Of Call Of Duty Cod Ghosts
.

Call Of Duty: Ghosts, 2013, PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U

Call Of Duty Ghosts was Infinity Wards turn once again to show what they can do. This was the tenth game in the series and it was also the most mass released COD game at the time as it was available for nearly anything that could play a game!

The story in Call Of Duty Ghosts was pretty awesome. Set in an alternative timeline where The Federation (a group of South American nations) become a super power and invade American soil. It is up to a special team of elite soldiers called Ghosts to put things right. The settings (including space) were just fantastic and it really was a lot of fun to play through.

Call Of Duty Ghosts had plenty of fun multiplayer modes, but the one that is really worth talking about is Extinction. Extinction was Infinity Ward's answer to Zombies. The idea here though was that these ancient creatures called Cryptids had been unearthed and are now wreaking havoc! The mode was a lot of fun and actually had a pretty cool sci-fi story running alongside it. So while you were killing wave after wave of enemies, it felt like there was a point to it all.

Call Of Duty Ghosts may not have sold as well as the previous year’s Black Ops II, but it still sold close to 20 million copies. It is not one of the more memorable games in the series, but there is still a lot of fun to be had here.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

We are continuing our quest to look back at the fantastic history of one of the most popular video game series of all time, Call Of Duty!

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 2011 PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii

In 2011, Infinity Ward was back to bring a close on their very popular Modern Warfare series with Modern Warfare 3.

The game continued the story from the previous game and brought back villain Vladimir Makarov as Soap MacTavish and Captain Price try to track him down. Like the other Modern Warfare games, Modern Warfare 3 had its campaign split into different arcs where you could play as different characters. It was very well done and the writing, voice acting and even the pacing of the campaign were just right on point.

It had you on the edge of your seat right until the very end.
As far as the multiplayer goes, most people were very happy with it. As a matter of fact, you can still actually hop online on PlayStation 3 and play Modern Warfare to this day!

Instead of Killstreaks, you have Pointstreaks which is much harder to do and in all honesty, people were split on if they liked it or not. Still, multiplayer in Modern Warfare was a lot of fun and it was one of the most played games of 2011-2012.

Survival was a new game mode that was added and it was a co-op mode that saw you and a buddy fight off waves of enemies. It is basically, Infinity Ward’s answer to the Zombies game mode, but while it was fun to play it just did not have the charm that zombies had.

At release, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare broke all kinds of sales records with over 1 million people lining up for midnight releases. It was a monster of a hit and a great way to close out this chapter of the Call Of Duty franchise.

The History Of Call Of Duty Pt 7 Playstation Black Ops Declassified

The History Of Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified Playstation

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified

In our quest to give you a look at the origins of the Call Of Duty series, today we are looking at a spin off game that in many ways is one of the most ambitious titles released in the Call Of Duty series!

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified 2012 PlayStation Vita, PlayStation TV

While there had been portable COD games before, none had managed to give you that console feeling in the palm of your hands. This was what nStigate Games were tasked with doing as Sony tried to convince the world that their Vita handheld could do all that a console could do.

Call Of Duty Black Ops Declassified was supposed to bridge the gap between Black Ops I and II. The game is very loosely based on these two games and does not actually feature a fully fledged single player campaign. Instead, you take on different stand alone missions. For on the go gaming, this was great, but many people felt that they could have added an actual campaign to Declassified
.
Declassified featured various, popular multiplayer game modes that you could play in 4 on 4 matches. The battles were not as large in scale as they were on console and people were not all that happy with the experience that it offered. Hostiles was an exclusive game mode and this was very similar to Survival Mode that was in Modern Warfare 3. With the idea being you had to survive wave after wave of enemies.

In all Declassified was a very ambitious title at the time and it did show that the potential was there for a full on Call Of Duty experience in the palm of your hand. But it did not live up to expectations. With tacked on touch controls and a very rushed kind of feel to it, Declassified got many negative reviews on release.

It would be the only COD game released for the PlayStation Vita. Which is a shame as the handheld perhaps could have given us that full COD experience on the go that many of us wanted.

Call Of Duty Black Ops II Ps4 Controllers

Our modded PS4 controllers, modded Xbox One controllers and modded PC controllers Are perfect for COD games like the one we are looking back at today! The Call Of Duty series has had some amazing games and we are looking at a very popular one today.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops II 2012 PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U

Treyarch was back again with a sequel to their very popular, Black Ops. This time the game is set in the future of 2025 as well as during the 80’s and early 90’s. The story features choices, choices which can have an effect on the way the story plays out. This was so cool at the time and the choices did actually matter as one could lead to a permanent death! Once again, Treyarch did a great job with the story which was about a new cold war between the USA and China.

As you would expect, Call Of Duty Black Ops II multiplayer featured all the game modes you would expect. But the big difference this year was the Pick 10. The Pick 10 would allow you to pick 10 different things for your class. Perks, grenades, and guns were just a few of the things you would have to pick.

It really did give you a lot of control and in the right hands, a player could create a character that was truly devastating. League Play was also introduced which was COD’s take on competitive gaming, it was actually pretty well received with quite a lot of players having fun with it.

Treyarch brought back Zombies and this time, as well as surviving wave after wave of zombies a new 8 player mode called Grief, was added to freshen things up a bit. Where two teams of 4 would fight against each other.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2010 PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS

Call Of Duty Black Ops was Treyarchs follow up to World At War so it had some very big shoes to fill. Many fans were excited for Black Ops as it was set during the Cold War of the 1960’s. The game had a fantastic campaign that was about sleeper agents about to be awoken to carry out a chemical weapon attack on the USA.

The story once again was very well written and played out like an action movie with some very cool location such as Vietnam, Russia and even the Arctic.
Multiplayer mode was back and it was once again fantastic. With 14 different maps and a ton of different game modes, many of which actually required teamwork. The multiplayer in Black Ops was very well received. And the COD points you collected could be used to get more epic gear for your soldier.

Zombies mode was back and man was this awesome you got to play as John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Robert McNamara, and Fidel Castro and you had to defend The Pentagon from a zombie attack. This was just a ton of fun and would set the tone for the tongue in cheek style that the Zombies mode would have going forward.

In all Black Ops was a fantastic Call Of Duty game that was critically acclaimed (even the Wii version got good reviews!) and it sold phenomenally well, even outselling Modern Warfare 2.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2

While we are all very excited to get our hands on Call Of Duty: WWII. Before that we are taking a trip down memory lane, looking at the past Call Of Duty games.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, 2009,PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS

2009 would see Infinity War get another turn to release a Call Of Duty game and they released Modern Warfare 2, a sequel to the first Modern Warfare. This is not just a sequel in the name. It is an actual continuation of the story from the last game which is really cool. The story once again is written so very well and it is like you are playing a role in an over the top action movie.

As awesome as the campaign was, there was some controversy with a scene that was a massacre in a Russian airport. It is pretty hard to watch, but it does add to the drama of the story. Interestingly, the game gives you the option to skip this if you want.

As awesome as the campaign was. At the time of release while many people appreciated the sky high production values. Many did say that they felt the campaign was a little too short, especially when compared to what the last couple of COD games offered.

The multiplayer mode was very popular, it was one of the most played games on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It had all the modes that you would expect, but some gamers were disappointed in the lack of a Zombies mode or some other similar kind of mode.

An interesting side note about Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is that rather than try and replicate the more powerful console versions. The Nintendo DS and Wii would get their own, unique versions of Modern Warfare 2.

Call Of Duty: World At War 2008 PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS

By 2008, Call Of Duty was one of, if not the biggest annual gaming franchise. For this game, Treyarch would take the series back to the past with a much more gritty and realistic take on World War 2.

The story mode this time around was very hard hitting, starting off with a scene where you see your squad being tortured. In the campaign, you will play as three different characters in a story that is very well written, with excellent voice acting.

Being able to stand, crouch and lay down added a lot of strategy to multiplayer battles, especially as if you could hide, you could regenerate some health. There are hidden Death Cards in the campaign which will unlock cool cheats and features for the multiplayer mode which are a lot of fun.

As awesome as the single player campaign and the multiplayer is, Call Of Duty: World At War would introduce something that would become a staple of the series, Zombies! Zombies saw you just have to try and survive wave after wave of Nazi Zombies! It was a fantastic addition to the series and something many of us look forward to with each new COD release.

Call Of Duty World At War is regarded by many as one of the best games in the series. It is a game that many COD fans are hoping there will be some kind of HD remaster in the near future.

Call Of Duty 4

Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2007 PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii

Before Modern Warfare was released, many gamers saw Call Of Duty as the World War 2 game. But Modern Warfare blew the series open and it became an insanely huge hit. The campaign was set in 2011 and as a result saw the troops use up to date weapons, tactics and vehicles. The campaign was like playing a part in an action movie and the story was told from the point of view of various characters.

Infinity Ward really stacked the multiplayer for Modern Warfare, with experience points and perks for going on a kill streak. The multiplayer was more intense than ever before. A huge reason for this was the gameplay. You could argue that while the other COD games played great. It was Modern Warfare that set the tone for the way the Call Of Duty series is today.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare was a huge success and would sell just under 16 million copies. For years (even after other COD games were released) gamers would play this online on console and PC.

The proof that Modern Warfare is one of the most popular COD games is shown with Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered. Which was an HD remastered version of the game which was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC as part of the special editions of Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Some people actually bought Infinite Warfare just to play this remastered version of Modern Warfare! That is how much people love this game!

Infinite Warfare and the remastered Modern Warfare are just two of the COD games that our PS4 Modded Controllers , Xbox One Modded Controllers and Modded PC Controllers make even more fun and awesome!

No matter if it is for Black Ops 3, Infinite Warfare or one of the older COD games, our controllers are the best! Well, today we are continuing our look at the COD games of the past!

Call Of Duty 3 - 2006 - Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii

It would be Treyarch who would be at the helm for the second time with Call Of Duty 3. One of the most interesting aspects of Call Of Duty 3 is that this was not released on PC! That is right, Call Of Duty was released only on consoles and as well as the current gen (at the time) it was also released for original Xbox and PS2. An interesting fact about the game is that it was a launch title for both the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

The campaign in Call Of Duty 3 was very well received. The story was based on the Normandy Breakout and the 14 missions that span the US, UK, Canadian and French forces are all part of one single story. This was a very interesting move for the series and many people liked it better than each faction having its own campaign. The campaign had sky high production values and not a bad word was said about it.

The multiplayer aspect of Call Of Duty 3 was huge. It was one of the most popular online games on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It had a lot of game modes and both consoles saw it become one of the most played multiplayer games of 2006 and 2007.

Call Of Duty 3 was a huge game and the fact it was only on consoles makes it the only core Call Of Duty game to have done this.

The History Of Call Of Duty: Pt 2 - Call Of Duty 2

The History Of Call Of Duty 2 Playstation 3

The History Of Call Of Duty 2

Call Of Duty 2005 PC, Xbox 360, Mobile

Infinity Ward would once again helm development of the game. It would take two years for a sequel to be released, but most people agree that the extra year was worth it. Call Of Duty 2 expanded on the first game in every way you can imagine.

The main criticism of the first game was that the campaign was too short. Well, this campaign featured a story that that saw you play as a soldier in the Red Army, US Army and two from the British Army. The campaign was diced up into three different stories and in total there were 27 different action packed missions.

A huge part of what made the campaign so great was the presentation. The graphics were just incredible and at the time it really did feel like you were playing a role in a World War 2 movie.

The multiplayer aspect of Call Of Duty was huge and in the early days of the Xbox 360, it was one of the most popular games. Speaking of which, Call Of Duty 2 was actually a launch game for the Xbox 360. To say it was a huge success is a major understatement as it sold over a quarter of a million copies in its first week on sale. It was a huge reason as to why the Xbox 360 was so successful at launch.

Call Of Duty 2 was and still is a fantastic game. Infinity Ward really outdid themselves on the campaign and the multiplayer was really starting to take shape.

Call Of Duty is one of the main games that our modded Xbox One controllers and our modded PlayStation 4 controllers are designed for. As a result, we thought we would have a little fun looking back at the origins of the Call Of Duty series.

The History Of Call Of Duty Xbox 360

The History Of Call Of Duty

Call Of Duty 2003 PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

The first Call Of Duty was a very ambitious game. With an American, British and Soviet campaign it was as close to actually being in Saving Private Ryan as you could get at the time. Developed by Infinity Ward, the game was just a huge, huge success and would eclipse Medal Of Honor as the preferred first person shooter.

The campaign was not the longest, but the intense multiplayer would more than make up for it. Released in 2003, Call Of Duty would go on to win many game of the year awards and at the time, many people were excited to see what would be next in this series!

The original Call Of Duty was only released on PC and for some bizarre reason, a port was also done on the Nokia NGage. It would make the jump to consoles, but it would not happen until 2009 as part of the special editions of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The impact made by this first Call Of Duty game cannot be underestimated. 20 years from now, gamers will look back at what a landmark release this was in the world of gaming. As popular and well received as it was, you cannot imagine that the people at Infinity Ward and Activision ever imaged the series would explode into what it has become now.

Thoughts On Call Of Duty WWII Zombie Leak

Thoughts On Call Of Duty WWII Zombie Leak!

WW2 Zombies

This has been all over the internet, but some brave soul has leaked a trailer for the zombie's mode in Call Of Duty WWII. We were already excited for this mode, just from the images we had seen. But this trailer is just phenomenal and made us even more excited for the game.

Ok so let’s talk about what we saw. This is unlike any other zombies mode, we have experienced before. The zombies look far more terrifying than they have in the past. They had a kind of goofy look to them before, but now they are just like something ripped from an R rated horror movie, they look disgusting and we love it! It is sure to make the zombies mode that extra bit exciting as they look just so horrible and we mean horrible in the best way.

One thing that has also been said is that this zombies mode is going to be more of a horde mode than it has before. We do not know about you, but wave after wave of zombies that look just like they are straight out of hell is awesome to us.

While we really liked the more 80’s light hearted take on zombies in Infinite Warfare. We must say that we feel this is a step in the right direction of the Call Of Duty series and we are sure that some folks will buy this game just for that.

We are super excited about Call Of Duty WWII and we would love to hear you guys thoughts on this new leaked Call Of Duty WWII zombies trailer in the comments section down below.

Old Games Worth Revisiting: Halo Reach

Old Games Worth Revisiting: Halo Reach

While we specialize in making modded controllers for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and even Xbox 360! But we also love to play games and today we are starting a new series where we look at an older first person shooter game that we feel is worth going back and playing.

Halo Reach (2010)

Xbox 360

Ok, so you may think that telling people to go back and play a Halo game and a Halo game released in 2010 and classing it as old is kind of weird. But Halo Reach is one of the best games in the series, but it is also a game that does not get the love it deserves.

Released in 2010, Halo Reach is actually a prequel to the first Halo game. The basics of the story are that the alien race known as the Covenant has put a real beating on humanities resources and the planet of Reach is next in line to be taken down by the Covenant. Instead of playing as Master Chief. You play as Nobel Six part of an elite team of Spartans who has been sent to Reach to try and stop the covenant and figure out what they are doing there. The story is excellent and I would say that this is the one game in the series that does not require you to have played any other Halo games to enjoy it. Of course, if you are into the Halo lore, you will appreciate it much more.

Game play wise, Halo Reach is not reinventing the wheel, but that is ok. It is just so much fun to play and interacting with the other Spartans is really cool and there is a sense of comradery here. The different weapons that you can get, both human and Covenant are cool and in general, it is just a ton of fun to play. Part of what makes this such a great game is the planet of Reach. At the time Halo Reach was released no other Halo game had a world that felt as alive as this.

While many people would have gone back and revisited the older Halo games thanks to The Master Chief Collection (which our modded Xbox One controllers are perfect for) Take the time to also go back and experience this gem, it is one of the games that is actually backwards compatible on Xbox One so there is no excuse.
